1996 was an incredible year for hip hop. On June 25, 1996, Jay Z released his first album, Reasonable Doubt, on Rocafella Records. At the time of its release, Jay Z believed that it would be his first…and only album. Jay Z, born Shawn Corey Carter, offered a debt that initially did not come with a great deal of commercial success. However, Jay Z gave us one of the best albums of 1996 and an album that was considered by many to be a hip hop classic.
