The much anticipated debut rap album from Snoop Dogg, Doggystyle, was released on November 23, 1993. The critically acclaimed album was a smash and sold 806k copies the first week that it was on the streets. But the album did not come without controversy as Snoop was arrested for manslaughter 3 months before the album was released.
